Name: Heidi L. Sparwath
Age: 42
Occupation: Frontline Manager

What does your job entail?
I manage a department of 17 employees in an insurance company.

How many hours a week do you work?
Around 45 hours a week

What happens if you do overtime?
In my job there is nothing called overtime, but if I do extra hours, then I can take some hours off now and then.

Denmark is known for its good work-life balance. Do you think you have that?
Definitely yes, I do. I can choose my own working hours when I don't have important meetings to attend. So I feel I have great flexibility and often work from home or come in later to miss the rush hour. I am very happy with what I have.

How do you think your working life compares to others in Europe?
I think my working life is really good because I can choose my own working hours and I know that my colleagues in other parts of Scandinavia (in our company) have the same set up and experiences as me.

Tell me a little about your private life.

What does your partner do?
Technical development for a hearing aid company.

Do you have children?
Yes two boys, nine and eleven.

Do you and your partner split family duties?
(For example washing, cleaning, shopping, picking up children, etc.)
Yes, I have a wonderful husband who makes sure we both share the duties.

What do you like to do to relax as a family?
We all enjoy going out on a day trip to the countryside or eating together in a restaurant. I am also an avid book reader, so I like some quality time on my own. To relax sometimes I just like to sit outside in my garden and listen to nature.
