Accepting boredom is not one of Danish-American actor Viggo Mortensen´s virtues and a glance at his CV gives weight to these words. Apart from being one of Hollywood’s most familiar faces, especially due to his performance in The Lord of the Rings, Viggo Mortensen is also a poet, musician, photographer and painter, with numerous publications, cd-releases and exhibitions to his name. Viggo Mortensen was born in New York in 1958 to an American mother and a Danish father. As a young man he worked in Denmark for a while driving trucks and selling flowers until he moved back to the states to pursue an acting career. He landed his first part in 1985 and during the nineties had various supporting roles until he was cast as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy in 1999.
Apart from his well-known acting career, Viggo Mortensen has published more than fifteen volumes of poetry, photography and painting. Furthermore he has published sixteen cd´s with a mix of his poetry and music.
In 2010 Viggo Mortensen was awarded the Knight´s Cross of the Order of Dannebrog.
